DORADO BEACH Established in 1958 is located in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The Dorado Beach Hotel and Golf Club was a major development created by Laurance Rockefeller in the 1950s. Robert Trent Jones was the architect tasked with routing two courses ; The East and West course over land once used as a coconut and grapefruit plantation. Laurance Rockefeller was the grandson of the American oil magnate, John D. Rockefeller and bought the property from the original 1905 owners, the Livingston family, who ran a coconuts and grapefruits export business on the site. Laurence Rockefeller had a dream to turn the property into a resort and natural sanctuary. He sought the best architects in the world to help with the project, ever mindful that the natural settings would be minimally disturbed. The hotel opened on December 1st, 1958, and among the hotel’s esteemed list of guests were Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Joan Crawford, Ava Gardner, Gerald Ford, Dwight Eisenhower, Henry Kissinger and John F.
