HIDEKI MATSUYAMA was born on 25 February 1992 in Matsuyama, Ehime, Japan and was introduced to golf by his father at the early age of four. Matsuyama quickly showed promise at the sport and honed his skills at Tohoku Fukushi University in Sendai, Japan, where after an impressive amateur career he turned professional in 2013. Matsuyama is a down-to-earth individual with a strong work ethic, known for his mental toughness and composure on the golf course which combined with a dedication to his craft has made him a highly respected figure in the sport.
