MUIRFIELD GOLF CLUB, established in 1891, is located in Gullane, Scotland and is home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. The club first played on Leith Links Edinburgh, before eventually re-locating to Muirfield 147 years later. The club holds the claim of being the oldest verifiable organised golf club in the world. The club’s records date continuously back to 1744, when it produced thirteen ‘Rules of Golf’ drawn up by the Gentlemen Golfers of Leith. These original 13 rules became the basis for the game of golf. Old Tom Morris designed the original course, and in 1923 Harry Colt was engaged to redesign the layout that remains in place today. continued..
