PRAIRIE DUNES COUNTRY CLUB, established in 1937, is located just outside Hutchinson in Kansas, USA. The club was founded by ‘Carey Salt’ tycoon Emerson Carey alongside his four sons in the mid-1930s. Course designer Perry Maxwell staked out his first golf course, Dornick Hills in 1923. He then sailed to Scotland with the express purpose of studying the famed links of that country. When he returned to America, he expressed hope that he’d someday have an opportunity to create an American version of what he played in Scotland. He got that opportunity at the height of The Depression in the heart of America, building the Prairie Dunes Country Club. continued..
