THE LOS ANGELES COUNTRY CLUB, established in 1897, is located in Los Angeles, California, USA. In 1897 a group of Los Angeles residents organized the ‘Los Angeles Golf Club’, and a piece of land was leased at the corner of Pico and Alvarado streets for a nine hole golf course called ‘The Windmill Links’. The course was named after a makeshift clubhouse from an existing abandoned windmill on the site. Up to the middle of 1898, this site served as the club’s home until the course became overcrowded. It was then moved to Pico Heights and subsequently moved locations a total of three times before settling on its current site adjacent to Beverly Hills in 1911. continued..
