The course features a ‘marsh side links’ style, with holes played over and around Hook Pond and through dramatic Atlantic sand dunes. The original clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1919 and was rebuilt to a new design by architect Roger Bullard around 1921”.

THE MAIDSTONE CLUB, established in 1891, is located in the village of East Hampton, New York, USA. The Club derives its name from the original name for East Hampton, which was Maidstone, named after Maidstone in England. The Club was the summer retreat of New York City’s most wealthy and socially connected families. It is believed William Tucker designed a basic 9 hole course in 1891 followed by improvements by Willie Dunn in 1894. The rudimentary nine-hole layout then expanded to eighteen holes in 1899 but Maidstone really came of age in the Roaring Twenties when new sandy land became available and the course was extended again. continued..
