VALHALLA GOLF CLUB Established in 1986 is located in Louisville, Kentucky, USA and was designed by ‘The Golden Bear’, Jack Nicklaus. Valhalla takes its name from the great hall described in Norse mythology where the souls of Vikings feasted and celebrated with the gods and was envisioned by local business leader Dwight Gahm in 1981. The businessman and golf enthusiast’s dream to build a world-class course capable of hosting major golf championships was pursued by him with the assistance of his three sons and opened for play five years later. Jack Nicklaus described the site in 1983 as a ‘golf designer’s dream because there is a variety of terrain, vegetation, and water to work with.
