The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, Scotland, saw Europe secure a dominant victory, marking their third consecutive win and eighth in ten meetings. Held on the Jack Nicklaus-designed PGA Centenary Course, it was only the second time the event was hosted in Scotland following Muirfield in 1973.

GLENEAGLES HOTEL opened on the 7th of June 1924 and is located near Auchterarder, in Perthshire, Scotland. It was commissioned by the Caledonian Railway [CR] who also built the nearby Gleneagles railway station, its own dedicated railway branch line. However, by the time Gleneagles was opened in 1924, the Caledonian Railway had been absorbed by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway [LMS]: There are three tournament-standard golf courses in the grounds with ‘The King’s Course’, designed by James Braid in 1919, being the ‘grand dame’ of the trio with the land that the King’s is built on being simply spectacular. This sits alongside the Queens course by C.K. Hutchinson in 1919 and a third layout now known as the PGA Centenary course, previously known as the Monarch’s Course, added by Jack Nicklaus in early 1993. continued..
