Philanthropist Mary Reynolds Babcock founded Old Town Club in 1939 following a substantial $30 million inheritance from her father, R.J. Reynolds, founder of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mary became one of the richest women in the world but her primary interest was in helping others and the ‘Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation’ still bears testament.
