ROYAL ABERDEEN GOLF CLUB, established in 1780, is located in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was founded as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen with members originally playing over a public strip of common land between the Don and the Dee. Aberdeen can be closely linked to the origins of golf, the earliest reference to a golf hole in Scotland was made in local Aberdeen records dating back to 1625. The Society of Golfers at Aberdeen became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815 and until 1888 played on the Queen’s Links close to the city before moving across the River Don to the links at Balgownie.
