SLEEPY HOLLOW COUNTRY CLUB, established in 1911, is located in Scarborough-on-Hudson, Briarcliff Manor, New York, USA and sits high above the Hudson River on a 338-acre estate owned by William Rockefeller and Frank Vanderlip. In 1911 Golf course design in America was in its infancy and Charles Blair Macdonald’s recently opened National Golf Links of America staked its claim as the best in the country. Therefore, it was no surprise that a who’s-who group of businessmen headed by Cornelius Vanderbilt, John Jacob Astor and William Rockefeller called on Macdonald, with Seth Raynor as foreman, to build them the new course. continued..
