Description
THE 1997 RYDER CUP was held at the Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, Spain from 26th to 28th of September 1997 and was the first one played outside the United States or the British isles. The team captains were Seve Ballesteros for Europe and Tom Kite for the United States. The European team was made up of Thomas Bjørn, Darren Clarke, Nick Faldo Ignacio Garrido, Per-Ulrik Johansson, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal, Jesper Parnevik, Costantino Rocca, Lee Westwood and Ian Woosnam: The USA team was made up of Fred Couples, Brad Faxon, Jim Furyk, Scott Hoch, Lee Janzen, Tom Lehman, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Jeff Maggert, Phil Mickelson, Mark O’Meara and Tiger Woods.
