CRYSTAL DOWNS COUNTRY CLUB, established in 1927, is located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in the USA. Walkley Ewing, was the driving force for the establishment of Crystal Downs after acquiring options to purchase two farms with spectacular frontage on Lake Michigan in 1926. He gathered a small group of investors and on June 21, 1927, officially incorporated Crystal Downs Country Club. Well respected landscape design architect, Eugene Goebel, laid out a nine-hole golf course, but Walkley Ewing felt something was missing and sought the assistance of golf course architects Dr. Alister Mac Kenzie and Perry Maxwell to develop the course further.
